Business Intelligence plays a critical role in helping wholesalers navigate a competitive and data-rich environment. At RWA Wholesale, we focus on developing and delivering tailored solutions that respond to the specific needs of each client. By transforming large and complex datasets into intuitive, easy-to-use dashboards, we enable businesses to uncover hidden opportunities, track performance, and make faster, more informed decisions.

As client expectations continue to evolve, so does the team, constantly refining our approach, exploring new tools, and rising to the challenges of an industry that demands both flexibility and precision.

How I got started in Wholesale Data Analytics.

My journey into data began when I was working for a major telecommunications company supporting the Corporate Events team. I had the opportunity to participate in large international events that showcased emerging technologies, including Big Data applications.

That was the first time I saw how data analytics could be used not just to analyse performance, but to manage complex operations in real time.

Whether it was coordinating attendee lists or tracking audience engagement, it became clear to me that data wasn’t just a support tool; it was a genuine advantage. The events also showcased the growing impact of data across industries, which sparked my curiosity and helped me realise just how powerful and versatile data could be.

When the pandemic hit and things slowed down, I took the opportunity to pivot. I enrolled in a Master’s in Big Data and Data Science and immersed myself in everything from data modelling to programming languages and analytics platforms. After finishing my course, I joined Real World Analytics as a Data Analyst.

Nearly four years later, I’ve grown into a Business Intelligence Developer, and now I’m working across the full data pipeline. I’m not just building dashboards anymore - I’m also learning about data structuring, ETL processes, and the technical side of delivering scalable solutions that work for our clients in the wholesale sector.

A day in the life of a Business Intelligence Developer.

No two days are the same at RWA Wholesale, but they always start with a team catch-up. It’s a chance to align on priorities, raise questions, and share updates - especially anything from our clients that might impact how we shape our solutions.

A big part of my day is spent building Tableau dashboards for wholesale clients.

These dashboards help retailers track the metrics that matter most, from sales trends and margin shifts to underperforming product lines.

Recently, I’ve been focused on enhancing the platform by adding new reports and more granular performance metrics to help clients get even more value from the tool.

Outside of dashboards, I’ve been developing my skills in data engineering. I’ve started training in ETL and data lifecycle processes, which is giving me a much broader understanding of how data moves through our systems.

This means I can now contribute to end-to-end data solutions, from raw extraction to the final visualisations our clients use every day.

As my role has progressed, I’ve also had the opportunity to support new team members as they onboard, helping them get up to speed on our systems, sharing what I’ve learned, and collaborating on ways to improve our processes.

It’s a great team to be part of: collaborative, driven, and always looking to innovate.

Building data dashboards that drive wholesale success.

I’m especially proud of the work we’ve done developing our Wholesale Business Intelligence solutions. We built a tool specifically for the wholesale and independent retail space, a sector that has its own challenges, priorities, and pace.

This project pushed us to adapt our approach completely.

We couldn’t just copy what had worked in other sectors. We had to dig deep to understand wholesale businesses and reimagine how data could serve their unique needs.

One of our biggest wins was designing a completely new user experience: something intuitive, visually engaging, and easy for anyone to use, no matter their data background.

Even though we work with complex datasets, we’ve made the insights clear and accessible so that clients can take action without getting bogged down in numbers.

Throughout the whole process, teamwork was everything. We combined our different strengths and ideas to create a solution that’s not just technically sound, but genuinely useful for our clients across all areas of Supply Chain Management.

And the work hasn’t stopped; we’re continuing to iterate, add new KPIs, and evolve the platform in line with client feedback.

What makes RWA Wholesale different?

If someone with no background in data asked me what RWA Wholesale does, here’s how I’d explain it: RWA Wholesale is a Business Intelligence platform designed to help independent wholesalers and retailers run their businesses more effectively.

We don’t sell products, we provide wholesale data insights that help people make better decisions around stock, sales, and customer service.

With RWA Wholesale, clients get a clear view of what’s happening in their business. They can see which products are selling well, which ones aren’t, and whether they’re carrying too much or too little stock. It helps prevent over-ordering, reduces waste, and improves supply chain efficiency.

The platform also tracks sales across time and locations, so clients can spot trends, compare branches, and make informed decisions. It even gives insight into customer service, helping retailers understand how well they’re meeting demand and resolving issues quickly.

In short, RWA Wholesale helps businesses stop guessing and start acting with confidence. It turns complex data into something people can actually understand and use - that’s why I love being part of the team building it.

What’s next for Wholesale Data and BI at RWA?

I’m excited about the future, not just for me personally, but for what we’re building at RWA Wholesale. As we explore AI-driven analytics and more advanced data tools, I can see endless potential to help our clients gain faster, deeper insights.

For now, I’m focused on continuing to grow my technical skills, contributing to smart, scalable solutions, and helping wholesalers do what they do best: run great businesses.
